ODDS AND ENDS FROM ROUND THE SHOW
The gate takings for the first day were £172 2s, which was £3O Ss less than last year. This morning the factory managers of the province met in conference. An address was given by Air. R. Harris, of Waitoa. Children are to be admitted free in the mornings and as a result, this morning they teemed through the buildings, all eyes on the exhibits, and as usual collected huge bundles of leaflets to litter round their homes. The attendance was much larger than usual for a morning session, promising well for the success of the exhibition from the point of view of attendance. • • • There is electricity in plenty in the sheds. In all there is 460 volts on to light up the show. For the purpose of catching the eye of the buyer some of the stands blaze with light reflected among vivid colour schemes. * * * The Whau Canal stall is being well patronised. To folk who all seem eager to know the economic arguments in favour Mr. D. B. Russell has a busy time outlining the project. The book of signatures to the petition to Parliament is being freely signed
