Professor W. Riddett went South by the Limited last evening. Mr. F. J- Nathan arrived in Auckland this morning by the Limited. The Hon. W. H. Triggs left Wellington for the north by Tuesday’s night’s Limited express. Mr. K. C\ Cutten, S.M., of Auckland, while visiting Wellington, was a guest at the weekly luncheon of the Rotary Club. Major-General R. Young, G. 8., C.M.G., D. 5.0., G O.C. New Zealand Forces, arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning. The Hon. J. Ashton, M.L.C., and exMinister of Lands, was a through passenger from Sydney to San Francisco on the Tahiti.

Mr. H. P. Armitage and Mr. A. W. Mason, both well known in Australian bowling circles, were through passengers on the Tahiti at Wellington.

Sir Thomas Mackenzie, M.L.C., who is in Auckland to act as the deputy of Mr. Coates in opening the Winter Show, is staying at the Grand Hotel.

Cr. O. R. Farrer, of Hamilton, has been ordered six months’ complete rest, and was granted leave of absence for that period by the borough council at its last meeting.

Mrs. Louisson, wife of Mr. T. 33. Louisson, Nelson,, owner of the pacer Imprint, is visiting Auckland, as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mason, Prince Arthur Hotel.

Advice has been received by the New Zealand superintendent for Dalgety and Co., Ltd., that Mr. A. K. Graham, director of the Hudson Bay Company, has joined the London board of directors of Lalgety and Co.

The Rev. Ivan S. Stebbins, Minister of the Green Lane Congregational Church, who has received a call to the South Brisbane Congregational Church, will announce his decision in the matter early next week.

By the Tahiti Captain R. S. Park, R.N.Z.A., returned to the Dominion after two years’ absence. Whilst in England he took gunnery staff courses at Woolwich, specialising in coast artillery work. He wil lbe stationed in Wellington, at Fort Dorset. Captain R. J. D. Davis, a Staff Corps officer of the New Zealand Defence Forces, returned to the Dominion by the Maheno after two years’ absence in England. He qualified in the small arms and machine-gun schools at Home, and will now be stationed at Trentham as chief weapon training instructor. Mr. C. C. Yates, who has been appointed registrar of the New Zealand College of Agriculture, Palmerston North, has been a member of the staff of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand for the past 30 years.
