SCOTS WILL NO’ FORGET. —To-day is the 131st anniversary of the death of Robert Burns, Scotland’s greatest singer. Burns died at Dumfries on July 21, 1796, at the early age of 37, and in circumstances revealing the poignancy of his own couplet: “O death! the poor man’s dearest friend... the kindest and the best.” This statue of the poet stands in the Auckland Domain, watching the path of thewestering sun.
