MELBOURNE PASSENGER SERVICE.—The Union Company advises that the passenger steamer Manuka, at present undergoing overhaul and survey, leaves Port Chalmers on Saturday. July 23. Lyttelton on Monday, July 25, and Wellington on Tuesday. July 26. for Melbourne in place of the Moeraki. The latter vessel will after discharge of her inward cargo at New Zealand ports this trip proceed from Wellington to Port Chalmers to lay up. LARGEST FRENCH LINER.— The pew French liner Ile-de-France, which commenced running in the Havre-Ply-mouth-New York service last month, is the largest steamer built in the world since the war. Her tonnage is 43,548 gross. She is the fifth largest steamer afloat. Other vessels larger than the Ile-de-France are the Majestic, 56.000 tons: Berengaria, 52,000 tons; j Olympic, 46,439 tons; and Aquitunia. 1 46,647 tons.
COASTAL MOVEMENTS— The Tiroa, arriving from the East Coast during the week-end, sails again on Monday for Hick’s Bay and Gisborne. The Coronation, which arrived yesterday from Awanui North, sails again on the return trip on Saturday. The Isabella de Frame arrived yesterday from Hokianga. She is to sail again to-day on the return trip. The Portland sails on Saturday for Whakatane. The scow Scot leaves for Waipu next Monday. The Elsie Alary is expected to arrive from the coast to-day. She sails again for Gisborne toward the end of the week. The Richardson Line steamer Awahou left for Tokomaru Bay and Gisborne last evening. _ _ The Mako is due from the East Coast on Monday next. She will be dispatched again on Tuesday or Wednesday for East Coast Bays, Napier and Wairoa. The Ronaki arrived last night from Portland. The Waipu, leaving at 4 p.m. to-day for Kerepeehi, arrives back again at 7 a.m. on Saturday. „ . , , . The Taniwha, sailing at 3 o clock this afternoon for Paeroa, is due back again at 9 p.m. to-morrow. The Hauiti sails at 2 p.m. to-day for Kopu and Turua and arrives back again at 2 o'clock to-morrow afternoon. The Rangitoto arrives from Thames at half-past two this afternoon and sails again on the return trip at 7 o’clock ton The Claymore, leaving for Whangarei at 7 p.m. to-day, arrives back again at 9 a.m. on Saturday and lies up for annual overhaul and survey. • , The Omana, sailing for Kawau, Mullet Point and Matakana at 3 p.m. to-day, returns again at 4.30 p.m. to-morrow. The Waiotahi, arriving from the Great Barrier this evening at 7 o’clock, relieves the Claymore in the Auckland- Whangarei service. She sails on Sunday at 10.30 p.m. for Whangarei. The Kawau, leaving at <.30 a.m. tomorrow for Waiwera, Mahurangl and Warkworth, arrives back again at 7 p.m. the same day. . . - The Clansman, arriving Horn Russell at 7 30 a.m. to-morrow, sails again on Monday at 5 p.m. for Russell, Opua, Whangaroa and Manganui. . The Matangi arrives from Tauranga at 7 am. to-morrow and leaves again on the return trip at 7 p.m. the same day. The Motu sails at 3 p.m. on Monday for Whakatane. She loads cm a o on Pridav Saturdav and. Monday. The Wingatui is expected to leave Bluff this evening for Lyttelton to complete her loading - for Auckland. The Kanna from Greymouth from Westport at 2.30 p.m. yesterday foi Auckland, where she she is due on bat urdav. After discharge here the vessel proceeds to Noumea, thence Walpole Island, to load for Dunedin and Bluff. The Island fruit steamer, Waipahu is to lay up at Auckland, and the crew are being paid off to-day. The Waipiata sailed from Dunedin at 4 p.m. yesterday for Oamaru, thence Timaru and Wellington for Auckland. She is due here about the middle of next W *The Gunbar, from the coast, is expected at Auckland next Thursday, and sails the following day on her return trip to Gisborne and Napier via bays. The Karori is bar-bound at Greymouth, but it is hoped she will cross outward at 3 p.m. to-day, calling probably at Westport for Auckland. The Cambridge is due at Wellington to-morrow from Auckland, and later proceeds to Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete her discharge. The Canadian Seignuer arrived at Wellington this morning* from Auckland and sails to-morrow for Lyttelton, Timaru and Dunedin to complete her discharge and to load for her return voyage. The Cheniston is now to leave Lyttelton on Tuesday for Westport for bunkers before proceeding to Makatea Island to load. The City of Corinth sails from* here at 2 p.m. to-day for Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff and Australia to land the balance of her New York cargo. The Persian Prince is due at Wanganui to-morrow from Auckland, and after discharge proceeds to Westport for bunkers, and thence Ocean Island and Nauru Island The oil-tanker Pleiodon is due at Wellington this afternoon for Auckland and later goes to Timaru to discharge the balance of her benzine. The Waihemo clears Dunedin to-mor-row for Bluff and New Plymouth to land the remainder of her Pacific Coast cargo. The Waitemata arrived at Napier this morning from Auckland and leaves tomorrow for Wellington and Australia. The West Henshaw leaves Napier today for Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin to put out the balance of her cargo. The Wirral was to leave Westport last evening for Australia to load for Home. i
