Mr. E. D. Bibbing, of Bristol is staying at the Hotel Stonehurst. General Sir Andrew Russell, of Hasting?. is on a visit to Auckland. He is stayitttf at the Grand Hotel. Sergeant G. Lambert, of the City police Station, will replace Sergeant S. Brown at Newton. The Hon. George Fowlds returned to Auckland by the Limited this morning. Messrs. W. E. Parry and M. J. Savage. M.P.’s, left by train for the South last evening. Mr. E. C. Gilliam was among the passengers who arrived from Wellington by the Limited this morning. Mr. L. H. King, manager of the Shipping Department of L. D. Nathan and Company, leaves Auckland by tonight’s Limited for Wellington. Mr. F. C. Widdop, Chief Engineer, Railway Department, arrived in Auckland from Wellington on departmental business this morning. He is staying at Cargen. Sir Edwin Michelson and the lions. C. J. Carrington, W. Stewart and G. J. Garland, M.L.C.’s, returned to Wellington by train last night. Mr. C. F. Shadick, engineer for the Buller County Council, is visiting Auckland. Mr. Shadick is an ex-Buller Rugby and hockey representative and captained the Buller hockey team last year against the Indian Army eleven. The Hon. W.* H. Mclntyre arrived from Westport by the express to-day, and is staying at the Waverley Hotel. The hon. gentleman is chairman of the Buller Hospital Board and Nelson Education Board. The deputy-governor of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Mr. H. T. Armitage, was a through passenger on the Tahiti which left for San Francisco from Wellington yesterday. Accompanied by Mr. A. W. Mason, chief accountant of the Bank, he will visit New York financiers to discuss with them the possibility of opening a branch of the bank in that city. Mr. T. A. Fletcher, president of the Wellington Rugby Referees’ Association, and a member of the New Zealand Rugby Union’s Management Committee, has received an appointment ip connection with the broadcasting of football matches in Wellington. Every Saturday afternoon he will supply listeners with details of the local Rugby football, and on alternate Fridays evening he will give a lecturette on Rugby. HOTEL REGISTER Grand. —Mr. J. E. ANOTHER HONOUR FOR LINDBERGH.—It falls to the lot of few men, •f we except crowned heads, to receive the honour of a commemorative stamp issue during their lifetime. Such distinction has been conferred on Colonel Lindbergh by the Government of the United States. The stamp is reproduced here.
