CANARY CONTEST

RESULT OF JUDGING Extraordinary interest has been taken, in the Canary Contest held in connection with the visit of Belmont’s Canary Opera, which is appearing at his Majesty’s Theatre. A number of canaries were placed on show in numbered cages in a Queen Street window, and the public was requested to place six birds in order of merit. Over 10,000 entries were received. Mr. Joseph Belmont judged the birds early this afternoon and placed them in the following order, 3, 24, 14, 11, 10 and 1. The winners of the prizes will be announced as soon as the scrutineers have completed their work.
