Gaol Fop French Communists.—The Paris police visited the offices of the Communist newspaper “Humanite.” and asked whether the deputies Cachin and Doriot were ready to give themselves up. The reply was in the affirmative, and the deputies were arrested and driven to the Sante Prison.—A. and N.Z.
Engineers on Strike. —Members of the Amalgamated Engineering Union employed at the Sunshine Harvester Works, Melbourne, ceased work as a protest against the exemption of the firm from the provisions of the award granting a 44-hour week to the engineering industry.—A. and 2s’.
