ADVERTISING CLUB

A SUCCESSFUL YEAR GOOD PROGRESS REPORTED “The year has been one of conspicuous success,” said Mr. C. E. Clinkard, president of the Auckland Advertising Club, at the annual meeting to-day. Mr. Clinkard said that at the start of the year they were faced with a debit balance of £l5O. During the year they had converted that liability into a credit balance of £l2O. That, added Mr. Clinkard, was not taking into account the profit made on the recent exhibition. The membership had also increased, the roll number now standing at 155. An outstanding feature of the year's work, he said, was the organising of the advertising exhibition. He considered that the exhibition had done a great deal of good for the club. Next year he considered the exhibition would be even better. Mr. Clinkard concluded with a few words of thanks to the executive and secretary, Mr. Lees, for assistance accorded. In moving the adoption of the report, Mr. L. A. Eady said that the club had been particularly fortunate in having an advertising man of Mr. Clinkard’s ability at the head of the club. Under such able direction, said Mr. Eady, the club could not help but succeed. CHANGE OF NAME In discussing the incorporation of the club, Mr. Goodwin suggested the advisability of changing the name of the club to Business Publicity Club. Mr. Goodwin pointed out that there was an erroneous impression afoot that the club was composed almost solely of advertising specialist^. He considered that the name as suggested would better meet their requirements. After some discussion it was resolved that the question be discussed at a future meeting. The president's cup for the member performing the best service during the year was presented to the Rev. A. M. Niblock. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr. L. A. Eady; vice-president, Mr. A. H. Lees; secretary, Rev. A. M. Niblock; treasurer, Mr. G. Finn; executive, Messrs. C. E. Clinkard, G. M. Fowlds, P. Finn, C. M. Cox, G. Takle.
