BOWLERS UNLUCKY CIVIL SERVICE MATCH HOME TEAM MAKES 256 By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright LONDON, Saturday. The New Zealand cricketers to-day commenced a match at Chiswick against an eleven representing the Civil Service. Collins, a brother of the Australian cricketer, captained the home side. The latter won the toss and made 256 in their first innings. The New Zealand bowlers put up a good performance considering that they had not the slightest help from the dead wicket. Merritt, Blunt and Henderson were frequently unlucky in beating the batsmen, but missing the wicket. The New Zealanders played Fox, a New Zealander now resident in England. Dempster and Blunt confidently played out time. The match against a London club fixed for August 29 has been cancelled Details: CIVIL SERVICE First Innings Cook, c Bernau, b Blunt 22 Rippon, st Dowry, b Merritt ....
