GROWTH OF CHURCH
ST. STEPHEN’S, PONSONBY The growth of St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church, Ponsonby, was commented on by the minister, the Rev. Frazer Barton, at the fifty-first celebrations heid yesterday. When the church began, the membership was only 29. Now it has grown to over 400, still having among its number two of the original congregation, Mesdarnes Morton and Hopkins. Both of the celebration services were taken by the Rev. Barton, large congregations attending. Anthems were sung by a large choir under the leadership of Mr. Sydney George, while the organist, Mr. W. H. Simpson, gave a stort recital before the service. The collections taken at the two services amounted to £137. which will go to the repairs and maintenance fund.
