TOY-ANIMAL HATS MONKEY ON A STICK AS DECORATION A daring touch of originality was displayed by the woman in a restaurant recently who had provided herself with a hat adorned by a monkey up a stick. The monkey and his stick were cleverly contrived from silk and cord, and firmly wired into place at the side of a small, perfectly plain hat of silk straw, but at first glance it looked as if tbe wearer had bought a penny toy from a bazaar and fixed it at the side of the crown of her beige felt hat. Toy animals are taking a very prominent place in the new spring fashions, and though upon first sight this is rather a surprising thing to come across, it is not at all unattractive. If women wish to look different, there seems no good reason why they should not have their hats and other things trimmed with animals instead of with fruit and flowers. If the idea becomes general it will at least add to the excitement of a walk. The monkey on the hat was repeated in a monkey carried under the arm, which proved to be really a handbag. Toy dog handbags have become so popular in a few weeks that they are no longer new, but they show how the animal idea in fashion is likely to progress.
