SEAMAN S BLURRED MEMORY SMASHED A TELEPHONE “I was that drunk I didn’t know what I was doing,” said John Holt, a seaman, aged 37, who was charged at the Police Court this morning with using obsence language and breaking a telephone receiver valued at 30s. The proprietor of a Queen Street dining-saloon said that accused came in for a meal on Saturday, and made himself objectionable to the waitresses. When he finished his meal he objected to the price of it, and began using filthy language. Witness threatened to ring up the police, so accused smashed the telephone. For the language, Mr. J. W. Poyn- ! ton, S.M., fined him £2, and ordered i him to pay 30s for damage to the leie- \ phone.
