VAUDEVILLE AND PICTURES Tho third beat of the “Mystery” Contest will be held to-night at the Prince Edward Theatre. A large vaudeville programme, which includes the following artistes, will be the chief feature of the evening: Viola Rene, Jazzo, Hartley Warburton, May Bain and her Maori Harmonisers, Lomas Jim and others. Since the days of Wallace Reid there has been a keen shortage of fastmoving films, and audiences are deploring the lack. Recently, however, a new star has blazed forth with a series of pictures which have more speed to the film foot than the late lamented Wally ever dreamed of. The player ia Frank Merrill, world-renowned athlete whose latest picture, “The Fighting doctor,” will V»e shown at the Prince Sdward Theatre to-night This Hercules production starts with a crash and ends with an explosion—and all along the line ;hings happen so quickly that one gasp of astonishment is smothered with another Stunts, thrills, danger, a thrilling rescue, a strenuous gang fight, a realistic wrestling match, glorious speed-boat race—one after another thev flash on to a stupendous climax Interwoven in the plot is a love story worthy of the action This is a picture experts have declared to be 'the fastest film ever made.’*
