IS IT A GAME OR A BUSINESS?

PALMERSTON NTH., To-day. AT a meeting of the Chamber of ■*“ Commerce this week, a proposal was advanced that a subscription be opened to enable the Manawhenua Rugby team to have a fortnight instead of a week in camp prior to the match with Hawke’s Bay for the Ranfurly Shield. The meeting, thinking that if the trophy came to this district, the town would be greatly benefited, decided to call a general meeting of business men and others interested. This took place yesterday, when, after hearing Mr. Ongley, president of the Manawatu- Horowhenua Union, the meeting decided to drop the proposal. The proceedings were taken in committee.
