TROTTING
(By
“ABAYDOS”)
OFF TO ADDINGTON SOME ALREADY THERE OTHERS GETTING READY Conditionally R. Millen, the well-known Auckland owner and breeder, lias accorded his good trotter Marble Star a nomination for Addington. The son of Marble Arch—Yankee Doodle is in nice condition, and should find the class to his liking in the South. Whether he makes the trip or not depends on the success of his owner’s application for the renewal of his licence. Getting Ready Jack Shaw, the Ellerslie mentor, is packing his bag for the South and will Iphva r»n
will leave on Tuesday with Jewel Pointer, Amaris and Direct Morning. All are in excellent condition, and in this respect they will quickly take the eye when they reach Addington. No trainer in New Zealand has anything on the genial Jack when it comes to putting the polish on.
Wants Winding Up Mr. Moodabe’s pair, Jewel Pointer and Amaris, benefited greatly by the racing recently at Alexandra Park, and with some solid work and a race or two at the fixture should be in the pink and in the money before the carnival concludes. After the Sprints A. Broughton is untying labels for his gear addressed Lyttelton, which means that Lady Dunmore, who won the Cornwall Handicap at the Auckland winter gathering in sensational style, will be on hand to tackle the speed kings at Addington. The Specialist mare is very well and if she hops out in the sprints will take a lot of catching. Will Make Them Sit Up S. August has gone South with Molly Boy and Nelson Fame. The former can if he will and the latter will if he is given a real chance. If the son of Nelson Bingen—Novice is kept for the sprint events, he will open the eyes of the Southern trotting public, and if the Addington track is at its best the Mangere-trained horse will record time that will take some smashing. A Useful Pair Percy Rogers, another Mangere mentor, intends making an onslaught on the Metropolitan prize sheet with Wallroon and Rockaway. The latter should be handy in the saddle dashes, while
Wallroon will find plenty of scope for his abilities in harness heats. Wallroon showed by his dashing finish in the Adams Memorial Cup that he is about ready to collect a stake. Rogers deserves to have a spin of Fortune’s wheel. Can he Improve? Doctor Dillon has gone to Christchurch to make another attempt to collect Southern stake money. Last August the Doctor ran two creditable races for second purses, his effort when just defeated by Peter Bingen, who was in receipt of 4S yards, being particularly good. Doctor Dillon tramped the 16 furlongs in 4.30 1-5. But is the Harold Dillon horse as well this year, and how much has Peter Bingen improved in the interval?
