HAWKE’S BAY RUGBY UNION AND BARCLAY
“POSITION FAIRLY SOUND” (Special to THE SUN.) NAPIER, To-day. The Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union is not greatly perturbed at the decision of the Wairarapa Union to place the case of W. Barclay before the New Zealand Rugby Football Union, with a view to determining whether the residential clause was complied with when Barclay played for Hawke’s Bay last Saturday. The question came up at last night’s meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Union, when the chairman said that the Union had an ample reply to make. “Our position is fairly sound.” said Mr. Norric. The union, however, decided to defer consideration pending the New Zealand Union’s deliberaions.
