CANE-FIELDS FEUD

MALTESE MANHANDLED IRATE STRIKERS By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Reed. 10.35 a.m. BRISBANE. To-day. Two parties of Maltese who were believed to have been recruited for work in the South Johnstone sugar mills were severely manhandled by 40 pickets when the train on which they were travelling stopped at Currajah. The one policeman present was powerless. The Maltese were badly battered and had to receive medical attention. Otherwise the situation is quiet. The mill continues to crush cane.—A. and N.Z.
