“THE FLAG LIEUTENANT”

A film destined to be one of the greatest successes ever screened is the Astra National British production of “The Flag Lieutenant” soon to be released in New Zealand, Australia and the Far East by Paramount Pictures. Henry Edward’s performance in the name part is a revelation of this accomplished actor’s versatility. Accustomed as we have been to the more restrained roles principally under the direction of Cecil Hepworth, his rendition of the part of the dashing, happy-go-lucky naval officer will win him new friends by the thousand. He is ably supported by Fred Haynham as his friend, Thesiger; Lewlass, Llewellyn as the Admiral, and Lionel d’Aragon as the fiery commander of the beleagured fort. Amusing light relief is afforded by Forrester Harvy and Humberstone Wright as seaman and marine respectively. Of the feminine members of the cast, perhaps the most interest centres upon Dorothy Seacombe, an Australian girl, who has now reached fame on the silver sheet. Miss Seacombe plays the part of Mrs. Cameron, whilst Lilian Odland portrays Sybil Wynn as the feminine lead opposite Edwards.

Clara Bow, dashing, Titian Paramount star has at least emerged from the wilderness of serious activity and is planning a vacation. At one time recently she was appearing in three different productions simultaneously Now she is completing “Rough House Rosie,” her latest starring piece, and the motor is being tuned up for a long trip. Later, she plans a trip to Paris. Miss Bow has the leading feminine role in “Wings” the epic film, visualising the exploits of the air forces in France during the Great War.
