MAN’S FREE ELECTRICITY £5 FINE FOR THEFT THE electric power in his house having been cut off, Stewart Goven, an electrician, tapped the meter, and so got his lighting supply. He pleaded guilty in the Police Court to-day to a charge of stealing 10s worth of electricity from the Auckland Electric Power Board. Senior-Detective Hammond said that defendant’s power had been cut off as an account was unpaid. He tapped the meter, and had been using power from February to June. Goven said he had only used the power when there was sickness in the house. A fine of £ 5 was imposed.
