REGENT’S NEW ORCHESTRA

MAURICE GUTTRIDGE’S SUPERB COMBINATION A notable event in the history of music in Auckland will take place tomorrow, when Mr. Maurice Guttridge» noted musical director, will present the new Operatic Orchestra at the Regent Theatre. Since its opening the Regent has set a standard in music worthy of the most magnificent house of entertainment in the Dominion. Under Mr. Guttridge’s direction the orchestra earned a reputation from one end or New Zealand to the other as the finest combination in the country, a fact that various leading artists have agreed upon. With the idea of offering the public greater musical programmes still Mr. Guttridge was recently empowered by the directors to comb the Dominion for its best players. Asa result of his expert judgment, tne Regent Operatic Orchestra has been augmented by artists in the first rana of their profession, and to-morrow tne magnificent new combination will be introduced in a splendid programme of classical and popular selections, tn former including many of the celebrated works of Beethoven and masters. The overture will, in itseu. demonstrate the wonderful combination which Mr. Guttridge has been fortunate enough to get together for t' complete enjoyment of all Auckland.
