The name given to Los Angeles, IT.S.A., when the Spaniards founded it in 1781, was “La Puebla de Xuestra Senora la Reina de Los Angeles” which, in England, is “The City of Our Lady the Queen of the Angels.” Retiring, after forty-nine years’ service in Stoke Newington (England), Mr. George Way is the son and grandson of lamplighters, while his son and a cousin also followed the same occupation at one time or another.
