WANGANUI ENGINEER

PROPOSED DISMISSAL COMMITTEE TO INVESTIGATE (Special to THE SUN.) WANGANUI, Wednesday. A motion by Cr. Horsley to dispense with the services of the city engineer, Mr. N. C. Staveley, was ruled out of order at the City Council meeting last night. Mr. Staveley wrote to say that he had given 15 years’ faithful service to the city, and he felt the action of the mover extraordinary, as no charges had been made against him. nor was the step said to be in the interests of retrenchment. The atmosphere was electrical, and a committee was set up to investigate any charges which might be produced.
