LOAN TO RELIEVE UNEMPLOYMENT
MT. EDEN PROPOSAL BOROUGH IMPROVEMENTS For the purpose of relieving unemployment, the Mount Eden Borough Council decided last evening to borrow £ 6,000 to be expended on drainage work and improving the Mount Eden Domain, Nicholson Park and Landscape Road. It was further decided to take the necessary steps to raise a loan of £IOO,OOO to do further drainage and sewerage work in the borough. The Mayor, Mr. E. H. Potter, said that the bigger loan would be spent at the rate of £25,000 a year. Out of 5,000 ratepayers only seven objected to the first loan.
