MAORI RUGBY TOUR
“TOO EARLY IN SEASON” N.Z.R.F.U. CASTIGATED j Press Association. WAIROA, To-day. At the Wairoa Rugby Sub-Union's meeting last night, several speakers spoke strongly regarding what was termed “the senseless and unwarranted action” of the New Zealand Rugby Union in sending the Maori All Blacks on tour so early in the season. This, it was contended, was crippling the local union’s finances and seriously interfering /with local club and representative football fixtures. Owing to several of their best players being absent with the Maori team, Tapua and Nuhaka, the two leading senior clubs were practically unable to carry on.
