ON THE ’CHANGE

UNION BANKS FIRMER MINING DEPRESSED Union Banks dealt wjth at £ls 15s, j an advance of 2s 6d on last week s • parity, was the feature of this raornning's business on the ’Change. The tightening of the market was no doubt due to the rumour that a new issue had been announced. This, as yet, is unconfirmed, and the local office of the bank has heard nothing. National of New Zealand Banks continue to weaken, leaving the mid-day call with buyers £6 16s and sellers £6 18s. Coals, though generally idle, are firm. Auckland Gas continues active at late quotations. Mining is dull, though small parcels continue to change hands. Alburnia, Moanataiari and Waihi all tend to weaken. Government and local body debentures continue in good tone. SALES REGISTERED At yesterday afternoon's call: —On the ’Change: Bank of N2Z., £2 ISs 9d; | Waihi, 18s 6d.
