REGENT ORCHESTRA

PRESENTED ON FRIDAY It is announced to-day by the directors of the Regent Theatre that the Regent Operatic Orchestra, which, under the direction of Mr. Maurice Guttridge, has achieved the distinction of being New Zealand’s foremost combination of selected musicians, will be augmented by the introduction of several of the Dominion’s first-rank players. From the opening date of the New Regent, music has been as carefully fostered as the picture and vaudeville side of the superb entertainment always offered to patrons. It was with this object in view that the directors engaged Mr. Guttridge, who is one of the most brilliant younger conductors of the day, and who quickly gained public approval by his superb handling of his chosen players. The result is that the Regent Operatic Orchestra is known, not only in Auckland, but throughout the Dominion, and leading musicians have personally congratulated the musical director on his combination. With the object of still further improving the orchestra to the complete satisfaction of the public and the directors. Mr. Guttridge was recently empowered to comb the whole of the Dominion to secure the best player? offering. This he has achieved, and on Friday next the new operatic orchestra will be presented to the public.
