WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL
M r - S. C. Macky presided over the monthly meeting of the Waipa County Council on Monday. There were also present: Crs. j. T. Johnson. A. I*l. Storey, W. McGee, G. S. Clarke, W. Reid, S. Saulbrey, A. Livingstone, R. G. Speake, E. F. Peacocke, T. Church and J. S. Fisher. It was stated on behalf of the vendors of the Maungatautari Block, which has been acquired as a reserve at the instance of the Matamata and Waipa Counties and Leamington Town Board, that the other local bodies were prepared to make their payments in full. It was decided to pay Waipa’s share of the purchase in three equal annual instalments. A request by the tutor-organiser for the At oi-kers’ Educational Association for financial assistanee toward arranging classes in various part of Waikato, was declined. Several applications were received from ratepayers asking for remission of rates. It was decided to make further inquiries into the conditions. Hamilton Borough Council wrote regarding a town-planning scheme. Cooperation with "Waipa County was asked by appointing representatives to confer with the council’s works committee and the representatives of the \\ aikato County. it was decided that councillors representing ridings adjacent to Hamilton borough and the chairman should attend the meeting. An application for remission of the JO per cent, penalty imposed on a Pukekura riding ratepayer for lack of prompt payment of his rates was received. The claim, which was made on grounds of hardship and poor health was agreed to. The county chairman. ]\lr S C Macky, and the clerk, Mr. T Grant were appointed as delegates to the conference of the Rural Counties Association.
