Fingers Blown Off. —Vincent Harrison, aged 10, son of Mr. and Mrs. P. Harrison, of Hill Road, Manurewa, was severely injured on Sunday as the result of an explosion of a detonator in his parents’ kitchen. The detonator had been picked up on an adjoining property, the scene of recent blasting operations. Three fingers were practically blown off the lad’s right hand. He is an inmate at the Auckland Hospital. Eleven escalators will be provided at the new tube station being built at Piccadilly Circus, London. Rheumatism occurs more frequently in those districts which lie very little above sea-level.
