A MEAT COMBINE
EIGHT FIRMS ALLIED BRITISH INQUIRIES By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright Reed. 9.55 a.m. LONDON, Monday. Asked in the House of Commons whether the Government would ap point a committee to investigate the meat trade, in view of the report that eight Continental meat firms were entering into an agreement whereby an increase in the price of chilled meat was likely, Sir Burton Chadwick, Un-der-Secretary for Trade, said the Food Council was at present inquiring into the retail prices of all meat, and would no doubt consider any increase. The question of anti-combine legislation did not arise.—A. and N.Z.-Sun.
