Beau Cavalier AM The Way Beau Cavalier led out at the start, and never looked like being beaten at any stage. Zircon, Crown Coin, Kawini, Royal Abbey, Tuki, Omahu and Wedding March followed the leader from the barrier. For most of the first half there was not a great deal of alteration, Crown Coin, Kawini and Zircon being close behind the leader, in the last round Kawini was up in second place, and one or two poor jumps gave Crown Coin a chance to challenge, and he went up alongside Kawini to be stalled off again in the last bend, where he lost ground. Kawini at this stage was going well, but was making no impression on Beau Cavalier, his only chance being that the leader would lose ground at the last fence. Beau Cavalier did nothing of the kind, and went on to win easily, Kawini having no difficulty in keeping second place from Crown Coin, Tuki finishing well up fourth.
