NEED FOR CARE.
ROAD-WORTHINESS OF CARS. HOW ACCIDENTS ARE CAUSED. With the coming of the large numbers of cars on the road and the advent of many new motorists whose knowledge of mechanical vehicles is as yet undeveloped, there arises a need for particular care as to the road-worthi-ness of vehicles, for accidents may well happen, not through actual negligent driving, but through the failure or par* tial failure of some detail of the car’s mechanism or equipment. The new car owner would be well advised to study carefully the mechanical details of his car—more especially as to wheels and brakes and steering-gear, in order that he may be assured that no adjustment is needed or has been overlooked which will give him assurance of immunity from breakdowns of these vital details. For the novice they are vastly more important than the matter of getting the best speed or performance out of the vehicle. That can come later.
It is a good policy to replace spark plugs every 20,000 miles, even though they are still shooting well. This applies particularly to one-piece plugs. v * * After the conference with the Main Highways Board last week a Southern delegate said this to a Dunedin representative: “I’m glad you mentioned the Bruce County Road; I always take my teeth out when I motor through the county.” * * * Don’t think you are the only fellow who has troubles. Read this: “When Noah sailed the well-known blue, He had his troubles, same as you. For days and days he drove the ark, Before he found a place to park.”
