THE MEIKLE PETITION
TN a letter to THE SUN, John Meikle, who has petitioned Parliament for many years past for compensation for seven years’ wrongful imprisonment and a ruined life, states that £5,000 was placed on the Supplementary Estimates by the Ward Government. He received the sum of £2,500, and petitioned for the remainder. The M to Z Committee recommended that the petitioner should be granted a pension of £4 a week for life, but this had not been given effect to.
