RACING HOLD UP
JgECAUSE of a shortage of horseshoers the light harness and thoroughbred racing game is becoming affected, according to R. M. McLaughlin of the Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association, who is touring the U.S.A. searching for shoers, to whom he is guaranteeing work the year round. The majority of the few horseshoers whom he comes across are beyond fifty years of age, he says, and no young men are learning the trade.
“The village smithy” Is rapidly disappearing, according to McLaughlin.
