SPLIT GLOVE

For a small palm split, not seen, mend with finest cotton. Dip sufficient in boiling water for five minutes, then Dolly dye it to a shade a trifle lighter than the glove. A visible finger split should be mended thus: Alinutely scallop unevenly the edges of the split. Cut from an old glove a piece quarter inch bigger all round than the split. Tie this on the finger of your hand in proper position with thread. Draw the glove on, and then touch the under sides of the scalloped edges and the upper sides of the patch with best china cement. Press together, tie a handkerchief over the place, leave on for 30 minutes, and (with an over-hand roll) draw the glove off, snipping the thread when exposed.
