SOCIAL HALL BURNED

FIRE AT RAETIHI (From Our Own Correspondent.) RAETIHI, To-day. A spectacular blaze occurred in the early hours on Sunday at Ohakune Junction, when Gamman’s Hall was razed to the ground. The hall was used for dances and social purposes. No social event had been held the previous night, and the outbreak is a mystery. The fire was discovered at 2.30 a.m. and the brigade arrived promptly, but was unable to save the building. The adjacent shed containing furniture was also totally destroyed.
