PRINCE EDWARD

“THE RANGER OF THE BIG PINES” With the splendour of the Rockies for a background, “The Ranger of the Big Pines,” a Master picture, opened yesterday at the Prince Edward Theatre. Kenneth Harlan, who is

featured in the leading role of Ross Cavanagh, gives an excellent performance as the handsome ranger whose pride and conventional training almost overbalance his love for Virginia Weatherford, “the lovely flower of a corrupt stock.” Helene Costello lends to the role

of Virginia sweetness and beauty. Eulalie Jensen’s interpretation of Liza Weatherford, hardened woman of the West, was a perfect bit of acting. The rest of an excellent l cast included Will Walling, Lew Harvey, Robert J. Graves, Eugene Paulette, Harvey Clark and Joan Standing. The picture is an adaptation of Hamlin Garland’s novel, “Cavanagh, Forest Ranger.” William Van Dyke directed, and Allan Thompson photographed this photoplay. It is a strong, stirring, and thoroughly entertaining motion picture.
