DUNEDIN DELINQUENTS

SENTENCED BY S.M. Press Association. DUNEDIN, Fridy. At the Police Court this morning, W'illiam Williamson, who was charged with stealing a letter containing £ls at Lawrence, was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. Charley Carney, for stealing an attache case from a motor-car, received two months’ imprisonment. Edwin Alphonsus Gawne, for converting a motor-car to his own use, was admitted to two years’ probation. John Patrick Abernethy, who was licensed out from the Weraroa training farm and absconded from service in Taranaki and at Matapu, was charged with the theft of bicycles at Hawera and Christchurch and of goods at Waverley and Wanganui. He was sentenced to three years at the Borstal Institute.

Karl Johansen, a waterside worker, for pillaging a bottle of whisky from the cargo of the steamer Tekoa, was sent to gaol for seven days.

A detective stated that in 1925 goods valued at £I.OBO were missed from this port. Last year’s figure was £407.
