Tribute to Mr. Ayson.—A tribute to the late Mr. F. L. Ayson, formerly chief inspector of fisheries, was paid in the Legislative Council to-day by the Hon. G. M. Thomson, who said his name -would be remembered for three valuable works. The first of these was the saving of the Auckland oyster beds. Mr. Ayson’s second great work was the establishment of the quinnat salmon in New Zealand. A third thing for which he would be remembered was the establishment of the Atlantic salmon.--
