“WORST TYPE OF FRAUD”
THROUGH SOCIAL WORKERS SIX MONTHS’ HARD LABOUR (Special to THE SIX.) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. “An attempted fraud through the social workers of the city, who are engaged in such a beneficent work from a humanitarian point of view is one of the lowest and worst types of fraud which come before the court,” said Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., this morning in dealing with Arthur Reginald Borland. The accused had obtained goods at three different shops by false pretences. He represented that he was R. Evans, and that he was authorised by the Rev,. P. Revell, the well known city missiomer. Borland was convicted and sentenced to two months’ imprisonment, with hard labour, on each charge.
