PORT AUCKLAND BAND

CARNIVAL AND BAZAAR OPENED LAST EVENING A carnival and bazaar held by the Port Auckland Band was opened in the concert chamber of the Town Hall last evening. Prior to officially declaring the bazaar open, the bandmaster, Mr. W. Nicholls. publicly thanked all those who had aided in the organising of the fair. He reminded the gathering of the meeting of massed bands on Sunday afternoon at the Domain, when six of * the leading bands of Auckland will take part. The chief attractions last evening were the side-shows, and some of these did a busy trade. There were also produce, grocery, cake, jumble, sweet, and other stalls. Mr. J - Ewart s orchestra, consisting of 40 performers, supplied the music. The carnival will be continued this afternoon and evening, and* to-morrow-afternoon and evening. The chief attraction on Saturday afternoon will be a baby show, for infants under 18 months.
