PORT AUCKLAND BAND

CARNIVAL AND BAZAAR Stirring music roused passers-by in Queen Street last evening. It was the march of the massed bands —Onehunga. Otahuhu, Papatoetoe, Devonport United and the Ponsonby Boys’ Brass Bands to the Town Hall to attend the opening of the carnival and bazaar organised by the Port Auckland Band. The function was a great success and will be continued this evening and tomorrow evening, when the funds of the band should benefit considerably. Last evening the numbers contributed by an orchestra under the direction of Mr. J. Ewen were very much enjoyed. This evening there will be innumerable delights offered to those who attend the carnival. One of them will be “The Magic Flute,” by the Port Auckland Band. It is possible to buy the daintiest and most useful things from many and varied stalls. To-morrow evening there will be a baby show, open to infants IS months old and under. Fancy dancing by the A.B.C. girls should prove a popular attraction. Various side-shows will keep the fun fast and furious.
