Mead made 54 and Hendren 150. Hobbs captained the professionals against the amateurs on the Oval today, but was not selected for the similar match at Lords on July 13. It was stated that he declined the invitation owing to ill-health. Hobbs says that he was not invited, adding that if the match had been against Australia he would have been invited quickly enough. OXFORD BEATS CAMBRIDGE In the Oxford v. Cambridge match. Cambridge, in Rs second innings, declared with nine wickets down for 349. McCanlis took four wickets for 47. Oxford in its second innings made 262 (Holmes 113, Barker 62). Allom took four wickets for 60. Cambridge won by 116 runs.—A. and N.Z.-Sun.
