RADIO DEPUTATION

IMPROVING BROADCASTING Press Association. WELLINGTON, Thursday. A deputation from the radio societies of New Zealand waited on members of Parliament to-night with reference to the present position of broadcasting matters. The listeners-in asked that a superintending engineer should be appointed for the four transmitting stations, that a musician should be stationed at each centre tp control the monitoring side, and that the transmission should be looked into with a view to amendment, as it was undoubtedly inferior at present. In Christchurch there was considerable static trouble which had never been remedied. It was also requested that programmes should be improved, and the question of talent in entertainments should be looked into. The suggestion was also made that an advisory board on the lines of the British Broadcasting Board should be set up, one member each representing the company, the listeners-in. the Government, and the dealers, the Postmaster-General to have the right to attend and vote if he so desired.

The deputation agreed to furnish to the members who were present a summary of their views and recommendations on the subject.
