“NOT NECESSARY” fpHE engineer of the Auckland Harbour Board does not consider that- wireless communication between Rangitoto and the city is absolutely necessary. In reply to a question by Mr. J. 13. Johnston at yesterday afternoon’s meeting of the board, he said that while the quarries were being worked there was direct communication between the island and the mainland live or six times a day. The works contemplated on the island did not make it sufficiently clear that the quarries would be open indefinitely. There had been a remarkable freedom from accidents on the island.
