BRITISH TROOPS LEAVING CHINA

SHANGHAI SAFER UNITS RETURN TO ENGLAND l ßritish Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Tuesday. The strength of the Shanghai defence force will shortly be reduced by the return to India of the infantry battalions of the Twentieth Indian Infantry Brigade, together with certain other units of the Indian contingent. The brigade includes the second battalion of the Gloucesters. the Second Durham Light Infantry, and the Punjabis. Altogether the defence force will be reduced by about 3,000 men. The troops being withdrawn were the first to go to Shanghai, where they have been stationed for the past six months. —A. and N.Z.
