Talk Remains Chief Business

PARLIAMENT’S WORK DEBATE DRAGS ALONG (THE SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter.) i WELLINGTON, Tuesday. There is indication that the Address-in-Reply debate will not last as long as was at first anticipated, for the speeches do not convey the impression of a generally talkative House. Just when it will close it is difficult to predict at the moment, but the greater part of it should be out of the way by the end of the current week. Departments are observing the usual custom, and are holding back their annual reports till the big debate .is through. At the conclusion of this, there will probably be the usual flood of reports, annual returns, and Parliamentary papers, while the Government Bills also will then start to come down. At the present time the House is more or less marking-time till members have their say on the Address- - in -Reply. The financial statement, together with the main estimates, trill most likely be brought down toward the middle of the session.
