CONSTABLES FACE MURDER CHARGE

DEATHS OF ABORIGINES MEN REMANDED By Cable. — Press. Association.—Copyright PERTH, Monday. Constables Regan and St. Jack were to-day remanded on charges of wilfully murdering an aborigine at Dala, East Kimberley, in the north-western a,rea of Western Australia, at the end of June, 1926. —A. and N.Z.

It was stated on June 1 last that a Royal Commission had found that lour aborigines met their deaths and were burned near Dala at the end of June, 15>26, while in the custody of Constables Regan and St. Jack, and the only persons responsible for those deaths were Regan and St. Jack.

The finding continued:—“Four more aborigines in the same month met their deaths. Their bodies were burned near C.ote Gote Merrie. Three aborigines met their deaths, and their bodies were burned at Mowerei. These aborigines at the time were in the custody of Constabes Regan and St. Jack, Specal Constables O'Leary and Jully, and the civilians Overhen and Murnane, and trackers. They met their deaths at the hands of one or move of the police party, but there is not sufficient evidence to establish definitely the actual murderers.
