Amery, Secretary of State for the Dominions, said he understood the Victorian land settlement scheme was suspended, but nominated men and women, for farm nnd household service respectively, accepted as hitherto, the 1925 agreement was between breat Britain and the Commonwealth, and it was impossible to say how far might be affected by the change of Policy of Victoria. Viscount Sandon, alluding to the of the delegation of Australian ih° tS ’ °bJ ec t of which was to urge fiieir countrymen to migrate, suggested that the delegation should encourage a visit to the over-populated districts of the Clyde, where unemployment was rife, instead of the Highland, where further depopulation was undesirable.
