THRILLS AT HENDON By Cable. —Press Association. —Copyright LONDON, Sunday. Nearly 100,000 spectators, including King George and Queen Mary, the Duke of York and King Alfonso of Spain, witnessed the Royal Air Force pageant at Hendon. It proved to be the best held since the war. There was a thrilUng aerial sham-fight between 12 scouts and 18 huge night bombers. This ended in the rout of the latter. Each night bomber by its own use of smoke emissions, through which rows of electric lights glowed, appeared to be forced down in flames. There was a wonderful finale. 7. his was the destruction of a supposed hostile Arab village, at the close of which a troop of carriers disembarked a company of infantry and field-guns and then took up the inhabitants of the village, who were supposed to have been rescued. —A. and N.Z.
