“THE MIGHTY VOICE”

WINTER EXHIBITION ARRANGEMENTS WELL AHEAD The first opportunity of hearing “The Mighty Voice” will be given the people of Auckland at the Winter Exhibition, which will be held from July 21 to 30 in the Central Wharf sheds. The wonder of the locomotive, steamship, airplane and the telephone has been followed by the marvel of “The Mighty Voice,” the voice of electrical structure whereby a single individual may address each one of an assembled multitude; the undistorted, full-vol-umed, yet natural voice, which can be heard distinctly by every member of a crowd numbering tens of thousands of persons. The apparatus, which accomplishes these marvels, to outward appearance is only a cabinet of modest dimensions which could be mistaken for an ordinary wireless set, yet it contains equipment costing several hundred pounds. In Australia several large buildings have permanent installations of “The Mighty Voice,” where it is used among other things to provide music for dancing in such huge halls as the Palais Royal. The system employed in the Cathedral of St. Peter’s, Rome, has addressed no less than 70,000 persons, each of whom heard clearly every word of the ceremony. Mr. J. Findlay told a SUN reporter to-day, that the entries for the farm produce, home industries, art a.nd photography sections were very satisfactory, and that the exhibition showed i every promise of being an excellent one. The work of covering in the intersections between the sheds on the wharf was well forward. The side-shows would include the latest devices for amusing the old and young; the entertainment side of the display would be a special effort.
